What would this world be without it?
I have a particular watcher who used to generally come bitch at me about yet another one of his favorite artists to commission dropping hentai as a particular service they provide. It was a tad bit annoying hearing about it so often, but in general, I listened and agreed, it was quite bullshit that the person in question decided to drop something they're known for and abandon their fans. It reminds me of my mugen days when someone would complain about their creations being warehoused and then would quit forever and DELETE EVERYTHING to get back at the people who hosted their content without perimission, when all they really did was punish their fanbased for something they couldn't even control.
It doesn't bother me so much that you want to quit hentai so much as it does the other guy, but when you quit something, I expect you to fully do it. I get it. You might have a family now and constant societal pressure is t

Groups of Colour: Weekly Journal #24
We plan to start the journals up again and the more feed back you give us, the easier it is for use to make the next journal better. The reason Groups of Colour is the first one, is because we've made references to it in the past without explaining it...(or at least I did.) THIS DOES NOT EXCLUDE THESE GROUPS FROM HAVING THEIR OWN JOURNALS! It's just a basic definition and description for people who want to learn more about colour If you'd like to see one of these groups of colour explored in more detail please comment below.
An Exhaustive Guide to Groups of Colour:
Greyscale: Is all shades between and including black and white. This lovely piece below was made by Cuddens however, please remember that this group does not accept greyscale pieces no matter how good they are.
Normal or Saturated Colours: think of these as the colours you see in a normal colour wheel. They have neither black nor white in them.
How to learn from master's artworks studies
Just a few my thoughts, nothing like "only correct approach" or something. I look for ways to learn myself, here just share my discoveries .
1. Find a piece you like (try to find a correct one, without issues, if you're beginner it may be hard to tell if it's correct or not, so the best solution is to choose old master's artworks you like). I know that some people want to alter some elements. Fine, if you feel that, do that. But in my case I copy a whole, even if I don't like some elements. So the best solution it so choose a piece you really like and want to copy it whole. If you alter, it's far harder to judge the result, but not impossible. Drawing is about having fun (at least in my case) so have fun .
2. Do your best to copy it as accurately as possible. If you are unable to do it, it means you need to learn how to see and observe. In my case the book "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards resolved this problem, so if you struggle with it, just read this boo
Art and Its Value (Why You Are Amazing)
We all know that our artwork has value. We know this of our time, our experience, our talent. It is not unreasonable to expect something in return for the things we have provided. Trading items, paying for goods - these are things we understand and encounter on a daily basis. We pay £2 for a cup of coffee knowing that we're paying for the ingredients, the time and training of the staff providing it and the cost of the rent of the lovely little cafe we'll sit in to enjoy it. It's not just a single thing we're paying for and the same goes for art.
When we commission someone we expect that their prices will include perhaps a small percentage of the cost of buying software required to complete it, a token amount towards the artist's electric bill for running their computer, those mundane and yet important things we might not always think of. We should expect, and rightly so, to pay for more than the end result. Sketches take time, revisions take time and if you're not already then you

The Simple Character Creator Formula
This is a copy-paste (with some additions) from my Tumblr blog (http://spaztique.tumblr.com/), but it must be reposted.
Twilight of the Hakurei, the club-wide comic tennis/RP (http://walfasstationwagon.deviantart.com/gallery/41877816), is turning out just as I suspected: AMAZINGLY. However, one thing that really astounds me is how well the character system is working. If you're not familiar, it's simply this:
1. Pick the character's biggest strength that affects other people. Note the key phrase, "that affects other people." For example, "He's really good at cooking," is not a strength: that's just a regular skill that only applies to one area of life and doesn't really affect others. However, "He's a fast learner," or, "He pays attention to detail," or, "He's very generous," is a strength because it applies to more than just cooking, but any other skill and especially relationships.
2. Pick the character's biggest weakness that affects other people. Once ag
Artists: STOP and READ!
People need to stop completing projects for clients under market prices (i.e., minimum wage). This drags the entire art market down and damages your future as an artist, damages other artists' livelihoods, and negatively affects the art industry as a whole (e.g., client perspective of the value of an artist's time/skill).
Artists need to be professional, and they need to treat their work as something that consumes resources (time, equipment/supply cost, etc.). I am surprised by how many people believe an artist will do work for free, or for the "idea" of success...that someone can bait an artist and their hard-earned and practiced skills by saying "you will be paid when I get paid...if the project is successful." There are also people out there who think an artist's work is theirs to use any way they want once they receive the commissioned art, without ever discussing it with the artist - or worse - without the artist taking the client aside and explaining copyright and licensin
Artist tips: Getting noticed
I'll give many ways to get out there.
Disclaimer: each thing I mention may or may not work. Some people are luckier than others, but you have to do what you can do try to be more noticed. So the list I make is what has helped me or has helped others I have seen.
-Keep drawing and posting! You won't get noticed if you don't keep making work. If there's stuff keeping you from drawing, however, that's understandable.
-with above: post the art you HAVE made to several sites. This is best during the times you can't do art for whatever reason. You're still getting yourself out there.
Sites to post to:
•Deviantart (already here)
•https://www.furaffinity.net/ (furry and humanoid art can be posted here)
•https://inkbunny.net/ (mainly furry)
•https://www.sofurry.com/welcome (mainly furry)

Make whatever character you want
I made a journal similar to this a while ago:
But I have some other things to say now! And this new one isn't as mad sounding. ahahaha
This is something I am super passionate about, so I wanna share my feelings for this. So in a way it will be giving advice on how to make "believable" characters, and yet don't have to at the same time.
First small thing: make an overpowered character if you want to.
Go as mary/gary-sue as you want. They are your characters! Many characters in anime are over-powered and very much loved. Many times it's fun seeing them over-powered. More fun when there's a twist to them, like One Punch Man.
This also goes for things they might be "perfect" at or are a general prodigy. Go ahead! Just know that if you rp with someone and you have an over-powered character, it may make it frustrating on the other person. It can also be easy to not have interesting stories either. BUT YOU CAN STILL MAKE THEM THAT WAY!
Now for the bigges
Original characters! (Vol.1)
Just a quick free feature to the original characters that inspired us in the last days. We won't explain how the following character inspired us (we would write a lot of spoiler for next art/writing) but we can show them because they're wonderful.

THIS IS A FUCKING PSA.
I am more than fucking mad..
If you missed the status update I just posted, here;
Soooo some user I don't even fucking know mentionned me in a status update (A FUCKING STATUS UPDATE.) to tell me they're in favor of the Muslim ban (that the fucker in the white house is right to do it, that he's ''protecting people'') 'because of ISIS' .
I just showed people the good news of Muslims not getting banned in a journal, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ISIS. THEY ARE PEOPLE WHO DESERVE LIFE, THEY ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH TERRORISTS JUST BECAUSE THEY'RE MUSLIMS. FUCK YOU.
If you are of the same ''''opinion'''' and you are one of my watchers, fucking unwatch me now. Let's get rid of the garbage.
If you know someone who is of that same ''''opinion'''' on DA, block them.
Their lives are more important than your Christian feelings. :/
(And let's be clear here, I have nothing against good Christians, a.k.a the ones who don't judge and are not against any minorities, but if your ''''opinion'''' ha
The issues of finding a confident art style...
..(with which you feel comfortable to work with)
I've been struggling with my style for a long time throughout the years and I can say, I'm happy about how it developed but it feels like I'm not even halfthrough yet. It feels like I need to change a lot ! But maybe it's just me who thinks like that, OF COURSE IT IS! Every artist is NEVER (I can say it again) N-E-V-E-R 100% happy with their art and that is totally normal.
Of course you reach milestones in which you can say "I am really proud and happy how this turned out!" But sooner or later we won't like our older art anyway.
For those who are currently struggling with their art style and don't know how to change it, heres what I did:
DO WHATEVER YOU WANT AND FEEL LIKE ! EXPERIMENT WITH EVERY STYLE YOU LIKE!
Because in the end you surely will develop/find a style that feels comfortable for you.
And guess what - You will develop it even
This is not some journal about personal woes. I just want to talk briefly about some attitudes towards realistic (and other) art styles that I've come across that... It just kinda seriously bothers me that people think that way about me and other people and themselves.
So here it is; Drawing realism does not equal elitism.
I don't draw realistically because I think it makes me better than other people and I don't know anyone else who does either. I draw realistically because I like drawing that way. Because I'm very particular about details and drawing little tiny details makes me ridiculously happy. It's just how I like to draw.
It doesn't make me better than you or anyone else.
I don't think any of you are below me because you draw anime/manga or cartoon styles. More power to you because I tend to struggle with it, honestly.
And if we all drew the exact same way, all our art would be the same and it would be boring as hell.
10 ways to become a better artist
Dear, deviantart fellow artists
How to become better at art? How to gain necessary skill and how to stay motivated and inspired?
There are no right, or wrong answers to these questions, as we all are different and we have our own creative journeys - but here are some of my thoughts about the topic and I hope that they might be helpful.
1. Make art with your heart
Make the art that you enjoy to create. Make what resonates with you, put your heart in it (not literally) and it will show through your artworks.
2. Be consistent
Commit to yourself. Do something daily, even if it's just a sketch. Perhaps, do a study every morning or make speedpaintings. You may not see the progress at first, but you shouldn't get discouraged by that. Not every single one of your artworks has to be a masterpiece and it's totally okay to have a bad drawing every once
Don't be afraid to make bad drawings.

Art as Therapy
Art in the Professions
An interesting point of convergence between art and health is the discipline of art therapy. It is a form of psychotherapy that encompasses multiple fields and form the bridge that allows health care professionals to reach patients who are considered very difficult to treat. Since its humble beginnings in the mid-1940’s, art therapy has continued to thrive between the boundaries of art, art theory, psychology and psychiatry.
What is it?
Art therapy has multiple definitions, since it came together from multiple origins. The most common definition combines its psychoanalytic roots and its behaviour-modification roots. Art therapy is defined by The British Association of Art Therapists as:
… A form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of communication. Clients who can use art therapy may have a wide range of difficulties, disabilities or diagnoses. These include, for example, emotional, behavioral or mental
